Nina1am is a Vietnamese-American singer-songwriter based in the DMV, rooted in pure creativity. Their melodic voice brings life to real experiences, ranging from queer love to those nights of longing for someone.
our favorite single is “maybe (i should stop)” is a hauntingly beautiful yet somber piece about being a (seemingly) endless cycle of balancing emotions with the fact that the consequences might not be worth it.
Most notably, the song features soft hums and a calming guitar— which intersects the semi lethargic rhythms of self doubt and exhaustion that comes with opening up.

“I wrote my most recent song, “DND” entirely based off of the energy of the beat when I heard it- I instantly fell in love with the groove and was inspired to explore how I felt about certain situations in my life at the time.
While I firmly believe that song lyrics can be interpreted to fit infinite narratives, I wrote “DND” about being involved with a person who centers partying, drugs, and public image over nurturing their relationships with others.
Without even trying, just by existing, we touch the lives of others and change them forever. This song is about choosing peace and coming to terms with the idea that things will never be the same.
“DND” feels like an “I told you so”, followed by a realization that eventually the loneliness that follows on the heels of heartbreak will pass. “ Nina stated while looking back at their inspiration.
